REGISTRATION FORMALITIES WITH ICAI
CA - FOUNDATION
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, viz. The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in the country.
To become a Chartered Accountant, one has to get himself registered with ICAI at different stages: Foundation, Intermediate, Articleship & Final.
Stage1: CA - Foundation
The Exams for CA-Foundation will be held in May, Sept & Jan every year.
To appear for MAY 2026 CA-Foundation Examination, get registered with ICAI on or before 1st JAN 2026.
To appear for SEPT 2026 CA-Foundation Examination, get registered with ICAI on or before 1st MAY 2026.
To appear for JAN 2027 CA-Foundation Examination, get registered with ICAI on or before 1st SEPT 2026.
The registration can be done only by Online method.
Under online method, you can directly fill your form ONLINE through ICAI website www.icai.org and make the payment of Rs.9,200 through different payment modes. (Credit/Debit Card, etc.)

CA-INTERMEDIATE
After clearing CA-Foundation Examination, the student is now required to get himself registered for CA-Intermediate.
CA-Intermediate examination comprises of 6 papers categorized in 2 groups (Group 1 : 3 papers & Group 2 : 3 papers)
A student has to clear all the 6 papers to reach CA-final. However, ICAI has given the facility to the students to either prepare for both groups simultaneously or can appear the paper group by group.
Therefore:
1. You have to register for both groups, however you can exercise all the options while filing the examination form i.e. if you are preparing for both groups, then you can apply for both groups and if you decide to give only one group, then you can fill the examination form for only one group. (If you fill the examination form for one group only, then your registration for other group still holds valid and you just need to fill the examination form for other group in next attempt.)
2. Registration Fee of Group 1 and Group 2 is Rs.18,000 combined.
